Question:

Do you think that the WFPB movement is here to stay?

— Maria Allen

Answer:

I absolutely do. Uh, it's great to be able to see it becoming more mainstream. Um, I've been in that movement for about 25 years now, uh, maybe a little bit more. So it is good to be able to see it becoming more mainstream. In fact, I was just reading an article earlier today, like mushrooms in particular, uh, are expected to go up by, they've gone up in the last year by 40% in sales, which is wonderful. Um, in the past three years it's gone. The whole food plant-based market has gone up by 80%, which is fantastic and we are seeing upward movement in that. The great thing is you're also seeing other, uh, large institutions like the American Heart Association and different organizations like that saying that a whole food plant-based diet is definitely the healthiest way to be able to eat. Now those were big ships that were very hard to turn, um, for years they would offer on their websites like, here's the meatloaf you should eat for your heart, you know, and it's like, that doesn't make any sense. Um, so it's great to be able to see, um, that it's big organizations are actually turning towards the whole food plant-based diet as well too. So I do think it's here to stay and uh, I can't wait to see all the other things that kind of hop out of it with so many new people involved and interested.
