Is it necessary to have formal academic training to become a recipe developer, or can someone who is very experienced, but without formal training, also be a full-scale developer?

You know, it depends on, different companies have different rules. There are some test kitchens that require a culinary degree. Some require a, an RD degree as a matter of fact. But if you are experienced, um, you can start pitching yourself, get to various companies. People are always looking for recipe developers.
